Why Choose Carlisle Family & Cosmetic Dentistry for CEREC One-Visit Restorations?

The Benefits of CEREC Dental Crowns

Model smile with dental crown

Since 1987, CEREC one-visit crowns, inlays, and onlays have been used to replace metal fillings, restore broken teeth, and fix teeth that have been damaged by decay. No metal filling lasts forever, and many people prefer to have their metal fillings replaced with metal-free, mercury-free alternatives. That's just one advantage of CEREC crowns, inlays, and onlays -- they are made from porcelain, which offers a natural appearance for your smile's restorations. However, another advantage is that the entire process can be performed in a single visit. No more waiting for your dental restorations to come back from the lab or wearing temporary restorations while you wait.

What to Expect Prior to Treatment

Before your treatment, Dr. Neslund or Dr. Benner will examine your tooth to determine which type of CEREC restoration will work best for your case. The type of restoration that is chosen depends on how much healthy tooth is left as well as other factors. Once he has determined whether you need a crown, inlay, or onlay, Dr. Neslund or Dr. Benner can begin preparing your mouth for the process.

How Do CEREC Crowns Work?

CEREC milling unit

CEREC one-visit crowns use special technology to make impressions of your teeth and mill your porcelain crown all onsite and in just about an hour’s time. While traditional crowns require that your impressions be sent to a dental lab, which takes up to a couple of weeks to create, our CEREC machine will use CAD/CAM technology to perform the entire procedure from start to finish right here in our dental office.
